- Two new Pokémon games, “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield,” will be released later this year.

Nintendo revealed “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield,” the latest entries into the main Pokémon video game franchise, during a special video presentation on Wednesday morning.
“Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield,”are role-playing games akin to the original “Pokémon Red” and “Pokémon Blue,” and take place in a brand-new region, Galar. Unlike the older games, “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield” will be fully rendered in 3D with varying camera angles and a more cinematic perspective.
Nintendo also revealed the three new starter Pokémon for the game: Grookey, a grass Pokémon; Scorbunny, a fire Pokémon; and Sobble, a water Pokémon. “Sword” and “Shield” will introduce even more monsters to the cast of more than 800 Pokémon.
"Pokémon Sword" and "Pokémon Shield" will be released for the Nintendo Switch in late 2019. Nintendo has promised more updates on the game in the months to come.
